The last 9 months have seen the rise of many hype-driven pumps that have left most people holding bags of coins with a dismal future. However, the good thing is that after so many failed Lambo dreams, people will begin to understand that it is the fundamentals that matter most, for sustainable growth and profitability. As more people become more aware, only the most fundamentally strong coins will be left standing.
Some of the coins that stand to make it big as the hype dies down are Ethereum Classic (ETC), Digibyte (DGB) and Cardano (ADA). These are projects that have a huge intrinsic value, and funny enough, never attract much hype in the market. So what guarantees these coins longevity in the market?
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
A while back, Coinbase announced that they were listing Ethereum Classic (ETC), and it caught many people off-guard. The common theme on most online forums was, “but they should have listed coin X, Y, Z not ETC.” What most people don’t understand is that ETC has a very strong value proposition that makes it valuable to developers looking to create high-value Dapps. For instance, Ethereum Classic (ETC)’s immutability means that it can be relied upon in scenarios where objects can’t be changed without negatively affecting the outcome.
For instance, if legally binding contracts such as land transactions were to be done on the blockchain, then immutability is not a choice. And that’s just one example. There are many more where immutability is a necessity. When immutability is combined with ETC’s other core attributes such as sidechains and a focus on the IoT market, it’s not hard to deduce that this is a high-value blockchain that will stand the test of time.
Digibyte (DGB)
Digibyte (DGB) is another under-hyped crypto that will only get better over time. Digibyte’s core value in the market is security, and it’s uunrivaled on this front. Given the increased vulnerability of centralized security systems, Digibyte’s market presence will become more pronounced over time. Digibyte’s strengths also make it quite useful in the first growing IoT market. It could be the security mechanism protecting your driverless car from a cyber-attack in the future.
That’s a use case that will give Digibyte exponential value growth. Digibyte (DGB) is also quite efficient as a currency, and a permission-less one at that. This gives it a good chance at adoption, given that fiat currencies, especially in the developing world are becoming more vulnerable. If Venezuela is anything to go by, then it’s safe to postulate that Digibyte is indeed a worthy long-term hold, even without the hype.
Cardano (ADA)
Like Ethereum Classic (ETC) and Digibyte (DGB), Cardano never draws in much hype. The Cardano team never give punchline dates for the release of any of their accomplishments. They simply execute on the roadmap, as they move towards creating a highly scalable, and efficient platform blockchain. Given that Cardano has solved the biggest hindrance to the growth of blockchain, scalability, its long-term growth is pretty much guaranteed.
Besides, Cardano (ADA) is solving one problem that is guaranteed to emerge in the future and that’s quantum attacks. By using mathematical models, Cardano wants to make sure that this blockchain won’t be vulnerable to quantum hacks, once quantum computers hit the market. This gives it an element of longevity in the market, way after hype coins are gone.
