IOTA Foundation teamed up with Audi’s Think Tank on July 25 in Berlin in order to explore the various Tangle-based use cases. This is in line with IOTA’s vision of building a permissionless mobility ecosystem. Denkwerkstatt makes up Audi’s Think Tank and together with IOTA team, will unearth “Tangle-based use cases, build a low-level prototype and gather customer feedback.”
For six months, Denkwerkstatt, which is comprised of seven employees of Audi, is going to come up with ideas for validating and executing premium mobility solutions and innovations. Their goal is to build business models using collaborations or even independently.
Most vehicle manufacturers are currently taking this route while searching for ways to bring innovation to their companies. IOTA, on the other hand, can use the input from the vastly experienced car manufacturers, like Audi to come up with new ideas and solutions for the ever-growing mobility industry.
“IOTA´s open source protocol is predestined to be an innovation accelerator for any kind of business ideas that that rely on trust in data, scalable & safe machine to machine communication & transaction settlement.”
What exactly is Audi Denkwerkstatt?
Mobility is an integral part of our everyday life. However, in the current economy, it goes beyond the car or the vehicle. It includes the infrastructure, emerging mobility concepts as well as pedestrian interests. Moreover, it does not stop there; the future of mobility is still very much untapped. Car manufacturers are looking for solutions and ideas that will work in the future mobility ecosystem and especially premium mobility.
The Audi Denkwerkstatt team was established by Audi to define, explore and shape the future of the mobility ecosystem. The team answers the questions of who will shape that future, who is going to define it and who will influence it? With “WE WILL.” Denkwerkstatt describes the “WE” as:
“Audi employees from all business areas and levels of the company who are working on the answer to this question in the Berlin co-working space, ‘The Factory´ „Factory am Görlitzer Park.” However, “’WE’ also means start-ups, technology partners and the creative talent who are helping us to develop and realise products and business models.”
IOTA is a non-profit organization that is registered and incorporated in Germany. It aims at supporting the development of standardized distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) in addition to its very own IOTA Tangle. IOTA Tangle was developed by the foundation to explore innovations in the Internet of Things (IoT) sector. Moreover, Tangle is open-source and facilitates unique Machine-to-Machine (M2M) integrations. It also encompasses things like transfer of data, instant fees-less transactions (micro) as well as the collection and distribution of “sensor-based and other types of ‘oracle’ and other data.”
